It is very import when choosing your Business Internet Solution, be it SHDSL, ADSL, Ethernet, Arrow Anywhere or any of the other Data services or any other provider for that matter, that you choose a usage plan that is right for your organisation and will cover your needs. Don’t try to save money in this area as you end up paying a multitude more if you are not careful.
1: Peer to Peer usage.
Unfortunately some employees will take advantage of the fact that you have a High Speed Business Grade connection and use that connection to Download Movies, Music and or other material that they perceive as being able to “get for free” from the Internet. Some one running Peer to Peer software on your service also opens you up to the possibility of being infected by Malware (Please see below for more information on Malware)
2: An unsecured Wireless Connection
The ability to Wirelessly connect to the Network with your office can be a great advantage, allowing you works to make use of there Laptops and other devices without the need for cabling. However if you do not have the appropriate security this can open you up to people from out side your organisation being able to access your services and possible your confidential information on your Network. This includes people possibly using your network for Peer to Peer usage (please see above)
3: Malware.
Malware includes, Worms, Viruses, Trojan’s, Key Loggers and other unwanted Software. Malware is most often cause by unsafe web browsing and the down loading and/or installation of unapproved Software. The best defence is a updated anti-virus software and a good firewall and of couse safe browsing practise’s.
4: Internet Radio and YouTube
Listening to music via the Internet users a constant stream of Data that can very quickly result in high and unexpected usage on your connection. Also constant use of UTube can have a similar result. Any site that you visit that has stream music or video is download this information and contributing to your total usage.
5: Remote Desktoping.
Remote desktoping from home can be a great way to be productive while out of the office. However if this is going to be part of your ongoing work practice you need to ensure that you have a Data plan the will accommodate the increased Data usage for both the work and remote location.
